Title
The working title for the picture is UN1TY, which strongly ties in with the theme of the film.

Synopsis of the Film
Chaz Lindquist’s family is leaving Charlottesville with only a few weeks left in the lacrosse season. Chaz doesn’t want to go. His coach doesn’t want to lose him. His team can’t afford to lose him. Even his parents hate for him to miss the remainder of the season. So the team pulls together to host Chaz... he’ll stay with a different family each week.

Most of these families are church-goers, but each has different denominational ties and each has their own struggles. They even fight amongst each other.

Throughout the film Chaz helps his team make it to the championship, but what he accomplishes off the field is even more impressive. He helps bring unity to the people of faith in his community.

The theme of unity will be developed throughout the picture through team, family, congregation, Church and Kingdom.

Theme
Unity between denominations is more-often the subject of jokes than of films. It is often easier to preach about unity than it is to experience it. Denominational boundaries are often seen as walls of division. Even within a particular church, unity is often hard to find. The theme of unity through the bond of Christ is central to the story we desire to tell.

Setting
Lacrosse is one of the fastest growing team sports in America. Youth participation in the sport has grown over 500% since 1999 to nearly 250,000. No sport has grown faster at the high school level over the last 10 years and there are now an estimated 200,000 high school players. With college teams and other leagues nearly a million players are right here in America... and yet only a couple of dramatic films have been produced that are set around the game of lacrosse.

History of Lacrosse
Lacrosse has an amazing history, portions of which tie in with the theme of the film. Lacrosse originated among the American Indians and was known as “The Creator’s Game”. The Iroquois Indians believed the game to be a gift from the Creator. A gift that is played for the Creator's enjoyment. A participant in lacrosse believed that his ability to play was a gift itself, and that the enjoyment of playing rested in freely giving his best effort.

The French Jesuits thought the webbed sticks used by the Iroquois to throw and carry the ball resembled a Shepherd's crook, a crosier, like the ones carried by bishops and abbots during religious services. Soon the French began to refer to the game as le jeu da crosse. Today the word “lacrosse” has become the common term used to describe the Creator's game.

The blending of our theme and setting with this rich history creates a very unique film. Unity in the body of Christ and the fast-paced action of lacrosse will help create a film like no other. It is our desire to tell a story that entertains and yet challenges the audience to consider where in their own lives they can restore unity with other believers.
